Last night, the INTL students delved into yet another amazing simulation. The Cross Cultural Communication Simulation challenged students to observe, understand, and communicate with different cultures by splitting the students into two opposing groups. Each group, located across the hotel from each other, was given their own unique sets of culture practices and customs to learn. Then members from the two different cultures would visit the other one, and try to understand how they were communicating just by observing. This activity allowed the students to experience first hand the challenges that come from trying to engage in trade and attempting create solutions to problems with those whose culture is different from yours. But, the students discovered that as long as they are willing to be open and try to understand others, communication can flow easily, and the solutions to complex global problems may be just around the corner!
